Media Releases from the Cemeteries & Crematoria Association of NSW
On behalf of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Association of NSW (CCANSW), we would like to thank you for your valued support throughout the year.
2021 has been an extremely busy year for our industry and CCANSW. The Association continues to keep members up to date and informed about the ever-changing COVID-19 information via circulars and the CCANSW website, which features a dedicated COVID-19 information page.
The Cemeteries & Crematoria Association of NSW is pleased to provide an update to members, colleagues and like minded associations. Although it has been a difficult year due to the COVID-19 pandemic the CCANSW has continued to pursue its mission to support members and the communities, including a successful Conference & Trade Exhibition held in May 2021 :
The savage bush fires devasting the east coast of Australia have had the NSW Government declare the threat as catastrophic and, in consequence, a State of Emergency across New South Wales (NSW).
The Cemeteries & Crematoria Association of New South Wales (CCANSW) would also remind cemetery operators and administrators that they have a duty of care to provide for the health and safety of its staff and the visiting public coming into cemeteries, gardens and buildings. A bushfire is an obvious threat to the health and safety of anyone caught in its path.
CCANSW welcomes the publication of the updated Australian Standard AS 4204 Headstones and Cemetery Monuments.
In May 2019, the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) sought feedback on the interment costs and pricing of interment services in NSW cemeteries. An Issue Paper was released by IPART, with a request for feedback prior to 7 June 2019.
