Jennifer Hickey & Fiona Lansdown | “Reforming the Way we Regulate: CCNSW’s Journey”

CCNSW has been developing an interment industry scheme, as required under Part 3 of the NSW Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2013. The presentation will provide an overview of the main components of the scheme, including the new regulatory framework which outlines our intent as a regulator. By the end of the session, participants should have a good understanding of what the scheme might look like; issues that have been raised by stakeholders to date, and how they can contribute to the development of the scheme and provide feedback.

Jennifer Hickey has spent a career delivering solutions to complex public policy issues in the Commonwealth and State governments. With legal training, her career has been focused on delivering better outcomes for citizens, whether in criminal justice, social policy or now as CEO
of CCNSW. Career highlights to date include criminal law advisor to the NSW Attorney General, developing the heads of agreement on the NDIS, and implementing a new refugee resettlement program for NSW. She is known  as a collaborative leader, a passionate news addict, and a self-confessed work in progress.

Fiona Lansdown is the Director of Regulatory Reform and Policy at CCNSW, leading the current regulatory reform project. Across her public service career she has worked on issues ranging from designing aerotropolises in Western Sydney to regulating early childhood centres, but is finding the interment sector to be one of the most fascinating yet.
