Lee Shearer | “OneCrown – Consistent, transparent and affordable services across Crown cemeteries”

Lee Shearer APM is the OneCrown Administrator.

The Statutory Review of the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act identified critical challenges within the NSW cemeteries industry.

To resolve the challenges identified, OneCrown was established to consolidate Sydney’s Crown cemetery operators.

Lee ShearerThe objective of this consolidation is to:

·  deliver consistent services that are responsive to community needs,

·  ensure affordable end-of-life services for all faith groups,

·  create the opportunity to acquire new cemeteries,

·  reduce operating costs and ensure fully funded perpetual cemetery

·  maintenance across all Crown cemeteries, and

·  create a sustainable sector for generations to come.

Through ongoing consultation and collaboration with stakeholders a united model for service delivery across Crown cemeteries is being implemented. Lee Shearer, OneCrown Administrator, will share progress to date, including key learnings and next steps.

Former NSW Assistant Police Commissioner Lee has decades of experience working closely with communities in regional NSW and Sydney. For the past decade, Lee has worked with a diverse range of industry and community stakeholders to improve the delivery of important community services including:

·  Delivering reform to NSW Fair Trading

·  As Chief Compliance Officer building and operating the NSW Government Resources Regulator

·  Appointment as Co-ordinator General of the Central Coast to improve planning outcomes for the Region

·  Conducting an extensive independent review into the riots at Frank Baxter Juvenile Detention Centre

·  Appointed as Local recovery co-ordinator for the Wamberal Beach erosion

·  Working as Chief Operations Officer and Chief Executive Officer at Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council.
